An earthquake is a sudden violent and shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great damage, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action. In a new study, a team of researcher's found a fault under Ventura, California could cause a very damaging earthquake than previously. This fault is of major concern because it is capable of a magnitude 8 earthquake, and based on it's location it is capable of generating a very destructive tsunami. I found this discovery very concerning mostly because I live in California, and although this state is very large and spread out i know that if an earthquake, we will be affected. It could affect us really bad or very minor, but it will effect us either way. At this point researchers are doing further research to see the damages an earthquake in this location will entail, and to see if tsunami precautions need to be enforced. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/02/170214104252.htm
